Salmo
Salmo Company
Salmo is a global fishing tackle company founded in Poland in 1991 by two friends, ichthyologists, and passionate anglers: Piotr Piskorski and Radosław Zaworski.
The Birth of the Lure: Salmo began as a small operation entirely focused on producing high-quality, handcrafted crankbaits and wobblers that quickly gained worldwide acclaim for their lifelike realism and effectiveness. Piotr Piskorski focused on developing original designs, while Radosław Zaworski oversaw their execution.
Innovation: Salmo lures were crafted from an innovative material at the time—polyurethane foam (PU)—which gave them unique buoyancy, durability, and stable action in the water.
Iconic Product: The company's most famous lure is the Salmo Hornet crankbait, which became a global bestseller, particularly for catching Trout, Bass, and Perch. Other well-known models include the Minnow, the Slider (the first mass-produced glide bait), the Executor, and the Fatso.
Global Recognition: Due to a scientific approach to lure design (considering fish behavior and environmental conditions), Salmo products quickly became popular across Europe and the USA.
Current Status: Today, Salmo is part of the larger Salmo Group, which offers a comprehensive range of tackle, including rods, reels, apparel (Norfin), and other lure brands (Lucky John), and holds a significant presence in the European market.
